Specialized Committees

The Second Committee (Economic and Financial Committee) of United Nations convenes this time to focus on the increasing risk of terrorism around the globe. Terrorism not only brings the disasters and deaths unfortunately but also disrupts the local and global economic and social stability. Terrorism financing directly supports the terrorist activity and indicates an inappropriate level of vulnerability and anonymity of financial systems. There have been several regional conventions in Europe, North America, the Middle East recently and ECOFIN thinks it is a great opportunity to bring this topic in a global level to organize different powers to combat the financing of terrorism. To address this divisive issue, this committee will employ UN4MUN, a new, innovative procedure that emphasizes consensus-building negotiation and implementation, over political conflict and division, modeled after the real United Nations rules and procedures.

Chair: Alex Maisel
Vice Chair: Justin Cray

At CMUNC 2018, The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee will tackle one of the most pressing issues facing the world today: the alleged genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya Muslim community in Myanmar (Burma). To address this divisive issue, this committee will employ UN4MUN, a new, innovative procedure that emphasizes consensus-building negotiation and implementation, over political conflict and division. Modeled after the real United Nations rules and procedure, UN4MUN committees test delegates skills in diplomacy and collaboration, and this skills will be crucial if any progress will be made in the plight of the Rohingya people.
